Buy local - beware of cheap imports.

Over the past few weeks there has been a rush of cheap deals on sites like Trade Me.  Buyer beware.  We give a written 5 year workmanship warranty.  If we don't know the quality of the product we won't put it in.  It can be a very expensive exercise, buying goods that are rubbish & having to buy quality again.  It costs you time and money.   Some of the toilet don't fit our drains - so they become expensive garden ornaments.  The showers are not good at all.  The trays are flimsy & bounce when stood on - this is what we all do in the shower !!!!!!

Stick to buying your goods from reputable companies, Placemakers, Mitre 10, Chesters, MasterTrade, Reece e.t.c.  Make sure you are aware of how much a bathroom costs, to do it correctly.  Multiply the cost of all your goods by three (toilet, vanity, shower, tapware, tile) You should be over budget.  It is better to expect more so if you get surprises you are covered.

Common Sence is not Common

Boy oh boy - it is true the days, weeks months fly by faster & faster.  Last week we had some gorgeous clients with really interesting jobs.  The guys went out to waterproof a deck - 26 m, unfortunately the concrete guys had left quite a few rough spots & lumps & hollows.  The guys spent 4 hours grinding to get it a little smoother ready for the tiler to pop a self leveling compound on the surface to prepare for our waterproofing.  I forget to ask the simplest questions when booking jobs, Like - is the surface prepared for us?  If I had only asked that, the client may have double checked everything.  Anyway they are off today to do the waterproofing - weather pending - it looks like rain - but the forecast is good.

Wow hasn't time gone by fast.  The GST increase hasn't effected our pricing - as 2.5 % is a small amount.  We are gearing up to Christmas, this is our busiest time of year.  If you are thinking of renovating, start now - so the work is completed in time for your summer break.  We offer a discount on labour in January - as traditionally this is a quiet time of the year for us.  If you want work done in January, make sure you have all your product on site before Christmas.  Most of the manufacturers close over the break, Clearlite, Athena, Kohler, Atlantis, Newline, St Michel.

NOTE we are recommended installers for NZ mad showers & Certified to install the Atlantis showers.  Please make sure you use a trained installer - to avoid frustrating leaks & heart break after your installation.
